Trench Wars for a great cause
Elite Driveways & Excavations brought local Norfolk businesses together for its first-ever Trench Wars event: a friendly digger challenge created to raise funds and awareness for Thrive Autism.

Local businesses digging deep for Thrive Autism
On Saturday, we held our first-ever Trench Wars event to support Thrive Autism. The idea was simple: bring people together, put their digger skills to the test and use a memorable day to help an important local cause.
Novatide Electrical and Metro Rod Norwich went head to head in the Trench War Digger Challenge. Jim and Zarvin stepped forward to represent their teams, taking on a test that demanded concentration, coordination and a steady hand.
Although this first event was invitation-only, it gave us the opportunity to test the format, learn what worked and begin shaping a larger fundraising event for the future. You can follow our latest news for future event updates.

Skill, teamwork and community spirit
Trench Wars was designed to be entertaining, competitive and purposeful. Every part of the day helped bring attention to Thrive Autism while showing what Norfolk businesses can achieve when they work together.
The digger challenge
Competitors took control of the machinery and tackled a specially arranged challenge where accuracy and control mattered more than outright speed.
Local collaboration
Businesses across Norfolk contributed machinery, barriers, refreshments, media support and their time to help us bring the event together.
Fundraising with purpose
The event created a positive platform for supporting Thrive Autism and encouraging more people to learn about and contribute to its work.
A brilliant day in the dirt
From the machinery and challenge area to the people supporting the event, these photographs capture the energy behind our first Trench Wars fundraiser.

The businesses and people who made it possible
We worked extremely hard to organise the day, but Trench Wars would not have happened without the generous support of other Norfolk businesses and everyone who gave their time.
Novatide Electrical versus Metro Rod Norwich
Novatide Electrical and Metro Rod Norwich brought the friendly rivalry, with Jim and Zarvin taking on the challenge on behalf of their teams.
Their willingness to get involved helped turn an ambitious first event into a memorable day. We are grateful to both businesses for supporting the fundraiser and entering into the spirit of Trench Wars.
A successful test run with bigger plans ahead
This year’s event was an important first step. It gave us a chance to trial the challenge, coordinate the practical details and understand how Trench Wars could grow into a larger community fundraising event.
The response has left us excited about what could come next. While this first edition was invitation-only, we hope future events can welcome more competitors, supporters and local businesses.
- A new fundraising event launched in Norfolk
- Local businesses united behind Thrive Autism
- A strong foundation for bigger future events
